One of Canada’s Best Imports

For those of you that thought Hockey, Curling and Beer were Canada’s best imports, I am here to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong. Natasha Henstridge is a stunning blonde beauty from Springdale, Newfoundland, Canada who burst onto the scene in 1995 playing the lead in the Sci-Fi thriller, Species. Where she more than held her own as the man devouring alien alongside such talent as Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Forest Whitaker.

Since then she has shown off her tremendous range by playing everything from a Hitman’s wife in the comedies The Whole Nine Yards and The Whole Ten Yards, to a convict turn spy in the series She Spies.

Never one to rest on her laurels, Natasha has a lot of great work coming down the pipeline.

She just returned from the Canadian countryside where she was filming the Lifetime thriller, “Cold Spring”, with co-star Sean Patrick Flanery. The movie is described as a cross between “The 6th Sense” and “Fatal Attraction”, and should be airing some time early next year.

She can also be seen in a family, holiday movie on Hallmark called “Christmas Song”. There she shares the screen with Gabe Hogan and a great group of up and coming actors. That will be airing sometime in December.

But for those of you yearning to see Natasha on the big screen again, have no fear. She also just wrapped the film “The Bronx Bull”, the story of Jake Lamotta, which should be in theaters sometime in 2013.

The movie has a pure A-List cast including, Paul Sorvino, William Forsythe, Penelope Ann Miller, Joe Mantegna, Harry Hamlin and Cloris Leachman.

While Natasha shines no matter if she’s on the big or small screen, they both offer her something entirely different that she really likes.

What she loves about television is the consistency it lends and the ability to have a more “normal” life with her husband and children.

But, there is something very alluring to her about being able to get totally engrossed in a role and taking on the life of the character she plays in a movie. She does admit however, that delving that deep into a role does take a lot out of her.

When asked if there were any roles she would really like to play, the answer for her was easy. First and foremost she would love to play Joni Mitchell in a biopic. Natasha feels that she has a real connection to the singers music and to the artist herself.

Of course, she would also jump at the chance to play a Torch Lounge Singer type, also, again showing off her tremendous range and even her singing voice.

But all work and no play makes Natasha a dull girl, so she is always on the go. A big fan of adventure sports, she loves to take her family to go hiking, boogie boarding, kayaking and of course skiing and snowboarding. She says she does it for the kids, but deep inside, she loves the thrill of it all.

Fans in Canada got a thrill when the home country gal walked the outside of the CN Tower in Toronto, which is the tallest free standing structure in the Western Hemisphere. Her children were quite surprised to get the call from their mom as she was walking the edge.

Believe it or not, there are sometimes when she is not on the go. Those times she can be found making and designing jewelry, reading anything from Paulo Choelo, or even watching any of the cooking contest reality shows (She especially likes Chopped and Master Chef).

Of course, being the fashionista that she is, she also loves trying to figure a way to either buy or redesign dresses and clothes that look good on a girl with a booty and boobs!!!

If she just wants a quiet getaway with hubby, Santa Barbara and Cabo San Lucas are two of her favorite places. But I am not so sure that even in those beautiful environs that she would remain stationary.

Don’t be surprised if you see her at an L.A. Kings game this season either, as she was all over their surprising and thrilling run to the Stanley Cup. She was, however, a little torn when they beat the Vancouver Canucks in the first round, as it was tough to see the only Western Conference Canadian team lose.

However, I am not so sure I would invite Natasha to a football game, as when she was at the Super Bowl a few years back, she actually fell asleep during the game. But with such a busy schedule, both on and off the screen, I think we can understand.
